Serge - Coming soon
Monday 26th May 2008
I"ll begin this week’s news update with a wee paragraph in tribute to Campbell, Brel"s most short-lived chargehand. When I moved to Brel from Cottier"s I decided I should take some of the better staff with me. When they all refused I took Campbell instead, though even I couldn"t have predicted how well he"d settle in with the new set of staff. We were all naturally very disappointed therefore when he received what he felt was a better offer, and left us to join Strathclyde University in some marketing scam they"re getting involved in. I was going to post a picture of Campbell dancing to "I"m a little teapot", a regular occurrence a few years ago, but sadly I"ve lost the originals. Instead, here"s a link to his Bebo site, where you can see Campbell harassing Gavin Hastings in the street. So cheers Campbell, we at Brel wish you all the best in your telesales related adventures. You"ll be begging for your job back in a fortnight.
In live music news, we have Kim Ritchie playing tonight, although as this is written at 22.30 and the gig finished half an hour ago it"s probably pretty irrelevant me telling you that. Tomorrow however we have Liam Gerner playing live from 8pm, and this gig is FREE! You can visit his website here.
Finally, on Wednesday Viva Melodia present The Wynntown Marshalls and Dropkick. Tickets are £2 on the door.
Last week I ran a competition asking where on earth sells Tennent"s Super on draught, expecting a few amusing answers back. It has since been pointed out to me that remarkably, the Super is an extremely popular pint in Italy. However, after re-reading the article that I linked to last week, I was also amazed to discover an Italian man actually proposed to his wife after two pints of the stuff. You can find a photo of the wedding reception here.
I"m joking, of course. Look out for tomorrow"s newsletter for information on the next free meal competition.
Bit of a short update this week, it"s late at night and I"m tired. As I said, there"s a newsletter going out tomorrow, which will hopefully be more detailed. So, see you tomorrow then.
Cheers,
Jamie
